Sequin T-Shirt

I love sequins and I don't think I get to wear them enough! There are several ways to take the sparkle of sequins from  night to day and a T-shirt is one! What is more basic than a simple relaxed fit cotton T-shirt? I found this one in store at H&M (not shown online) with several other fun sequin designs. I enjoy mixing dressy and casual so the orange midi skirt from NY&CO (it is currently 50%off!) added the perfect pop. The peep toes which add a little print to the look, are by Iron Fist I've had for a while.

Farewell to Spring/Summer Trends 2

 

 

 

I wanted to follow up my last post with another of my favorite trends, rompers. Rompers were everywhere this spring and summer! It it usually difficult for me to find rompers that fit right because I am tall. I love how they look on other people but it is rare that I find one that I like and it fits me well. I lucked out with this colorful romper from Dillard's on clearance! It's eye catching, fits well and the cut out in the back adds even more interest. The only drawback with a romper is having to practically undress every time you use the bathroom, but looking good sometimes requires a little sacrifice!

A Farewell to Spring/Summer Trends

 

 

Sadly summer is coming to an end. Fall trends are taking over, so I wanted to do a little tribute to a few of my faves which I am sure will return next year! Today it's denim on denim with a pencil skirt and sleeveless tie-dye top. I don't usually wear denim to work, but if I did this 7 For All Mankind pencil skirt would be perfect. I love hats and this newsboy style cap along with the acid wash tie-dye top added a casual cool touch to my outfit.

TGIF! The weekend is finally here! What better way to celebrate it than in a great pair of distressed skinny jeans? Distressed jeans are a trend that carry over from season to season. This pair by 7 For All Mankind fit like a glove.  One of the trends I've seen for fall are feminine high neck blouses with and without ties at the neck. In anticipation I thought a sleeveless one was appropriate as we are still well in the midst of summer heat where I live. A blazer or jacket would go well to transition this look for fall.

Asymetrical Peplum

A peplum is a short skirt of fabric that is attached to a more fitted article of clothing. Peplums are narrow at the waist and flare at the hip area. The right peplum can enhance or give the illusion of an hour glass figure. I had gotten a little tired of the peplum trend but with so many different shapes to choose from my interest is rejuvenated. From flared, to pleated and asymmetrical there is a flattering one for many figures. I love the way the asymmetrical peplum adds drama to a simple sheath dress. This delightful cocktail dress is still available at BCBG in a similar print.

Flyaway and a Mini

Typically I like to balance the proportions of each piece of clothing I wear together. Loose fitting items with fitted items, or short with long etc. This eye catching flyaway top is both versatile and elegant. The color is summery and both the loose fit and the draping lapels make it elegant. I wanted to focus on my legs in this super short mini but still keep the look sophisticated. This top was a great balance for the denim mini skirt. Mini skirts come in many different lengths and shapes, trying a few will help you figure out just how mini to go. The heels I've had for a while and just happen to be a great complement to the top!
